A fine aerial view of Cuzco, Peru. Ffrom Montanus' "De Nieuwe en Onbekende Weereld: of Beschryving van America." It depicts the early layout of the modern city of Cuzco, which was rebuilt by the Spanish when they invaded Peru. Cuzco was built on the site of an ancient Incan city of the same name, which was the capitol of the Inca Empire. The ruins of the old town are scattered along the hillside in the background. The church of Santo Domingo to the right of the town stands on the base of the old Incan Sun Temple.
