Collection: Horace Bradley
Horace Bradley (1862–1896) was an American illustrator, engraver, and designer known for his work in late 19th-century magazines and books. Born in Georgia, he studied art in New York and became associated with the growing field of illustrated journalism, contributing to publications such as Harper’s Weekly and Century Magazine. His drawings often depicted scenes of modern industry, transportation, and American life with crisp line work and balanced composition.
In addition to his commercial illustrations, Bradley produced fine engravings and lithographs that demonstrated his technical skill and eye for design. Though his career was cut short by his early death, his work represents the refinement and transition of American illustration from traditional engraving to more modern graphic methods at the close of the century.
