Collection: Harry Fenn

Harry Fenn (1845–1911) was a British-born American illustrator, engraver, and landscape painter renowned for his detailed work in books and periodicals of the late 19th century. Born in Richmond, England, he trained as a wood engraver before emigrating to the United States, where his illustrations became central to popular publications such as Harper’s Weekly and Scribner’s Monthly.

Fenn gained widespread recognition for his illustrations in Picturesque America (1872–1874), a landmark series celebrating the nation’s natural beauty and cultural landmarks. His finely detailed engravings and watercolors helped shape America’s visual identity during the post–Civil War period, influencing generations of artists and engravers who followed.
