This map illustrates the boundary between the United States and Russia following the Alaska Purchase of 1867, when the United States acquired the vast Alaskan territory from the Russian Empire for $7.2 million. The engraving highlights the Aleutian Islands, the Alaskan mainland, and extends eastward into northwestern Canada as far south as Vancouver Island.
