From Montanus' "De Nieuwe en Onbekende Weereld: of Beschryving van America". This view shows the Bay of All Saints in Brazil. Known as Sao Salvador, or Bahia, the town was founded by the Portuguese in 1549. It flourished with the development of the sugar plantations and became an important political and economic center in colonial Brazil.
